1022.01 DEFINITIONS.
   As used in this chapter:
   (a)   "Abutting" or "adjacent real property" shall mean land contiguous to a sidewalk or other public pedestrian way.
   (b)   "City Manager" shall mean the City Manager, or his or her designee, of the City of Ionia.
   (c)   "Disrepair of a sidewalk" shall include, but shall not be limited to, the following conditions:
      (1)   Holes and cracked, loosened, crumbling or breaking surfaces.
      (2)   Difference in heights of adjoining sections of sidewalk deemed hazardous by the City.
      (3)   Insufficient slope to adequately drain water.
      (4)   Any other condition that the City reasonably believes may constitute a liability risk or safety hazard.
   (d)   "Property owner" shall mean any person having legal or equitable title to real property.
   (e)   "Sidewalk" shall mean the portion of the street right-of-way designed for pedestrian travel.

1022.02 CONSTRUCTION AND REPAIR; COMPLIANCE WITH SPECIFICATIONS.
   No person shall construct, rebuild or repair any sidewalk except in accordance with the City's duly adopted municipal standards.
