§ 35.09 BENEFITS AND EXPENSES OF VOLUNTEER POLICE OFFICER.
   All volunteer police officers of the town shall be “volunteers” within the meaning of the Fair Labor Standard Act and shall receive no compensation for their services. By affirmative vote of a majority of Town Council, however, volunteer police officers may be provided with “reasonable benefits” as that term is understood under 29 U.S.C. § 203(e)(4)(A)(i). By affirmative vote of a majority, Town Council may, in its discretion, provide its volunteer police officers with a “nominal fee” as the term is understood under 29 U.S.C. § 203(e)(4)(A)(i). In addition, volunteer police officers shall be entitled to reimbursement for all authorized expenses incurred on behalf of the town.
