There is hereby established a Department of Information Systems. The Department of Information Systems shall be dedicated to provide, manage, support, and promote the use of cost effective, reliable, and secure data communications, telecommunications, and other systems to assure fullest use of available technologies and resources.

The Director of the Department of Information Systems shall be the administrative head of the department under the immediate supervision of the Administrative Assistant. He shall make all needful rules and regulations for the government of the department and the several divisions thereof. He shall preside at all meetings of the department or the division thereof, have charge of and be responsible for proper maintenance of the apparatus of the department and publish rules for the operation of the department and the duties and conduct of the members thereof.

There is hereby established the position of Network Administrator. The Network Administrator shall report directly to the Director of the Department of Information Systems and shall perform such duties as may be required by the Director pursuant to the position's job description on file with the City.

The Department of Information Systems shall be responsible for the following functions:
(a) Maintain, install, and upgrade all information systems hardware and software, including, but not limited to, computers, printers, servers, modems, switches, and other electronic equipment/devices.
(b) Provide user support and troubleshooting for computer hardware and application needs.
(c) Research and provide technical expertise for information systems related issues.
(d) Configure and maintain all user account features. Maintain the City's information systems security system.
(e) Provide regular backups of data.
(f) Perform any and all other functions required by the City Administrator.
