(A) Vacation.
(1) In order to qualify for a vacation, a full-paid firefighter must have had earnings in 26 pay periods during the 12 months preceding his or her anniversary date. The firefighter shall notify the Fire Chief in writing on or before April 1, as to his or her vacation period preference. Vacations shall be scheduled in periods of not less than five consecutive working days. Full-paid firefighters shall receive paid vacation in accordance with seniority as follows:

(2) In the event a holiday occurs during a full-paid firefighter’s vacation period, he or she shall be paid for the holiday in addition to vacation pay.

(B) Sick leave. Full-paid firefighters shall receive five days sick leave every six months, which shall not exceed a total of 40 days. The firefighter must notify the Fire Chief by 8:00 a.m. of the sickness. The Fire Chief will be the sole judge if the firefighter is qualified for sick leave benefits. If, in the opinion of the Fire Chief, a firefighter has abused the above rights and privileges, the firefighter shall be laid off for a period of two weeks without pay, or be placed on a three days-without-pay waiting period before sick leave benefits become effective.

(C) Holidays. Full-paid firefighters who do not perform work on the day before New Year’s Day, New Year’s Day, Ash Wednesday, Good Friday, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Veterans Day, Thanksgiving Day, the day before Christmas, Christmas Day, and birthday shall receive 12 hours pay at the regular rate of pay. Full-paid firefighters who are required or scheduled to work on any of the above holidays shall receive 12 hours holiday pay.
