§ 33.09 COMPENSATION OF FIREFIGHTERS; UNIFORM AND EQUIPMENT ALLOWANCES; ANNUAL REVIEW BY CITY COUNCIL.
   (A)   Firefighters shall be compensated as follows.
      (1)   Fire Chief. If the Fire Chief is a full-paid firefighter, his or her weekly salary shall be set by the City Council and he or she shall also receive all benefits of a full-paid firefighter. If the Fire Chief is a partially-paid firefighter, his or her annual salary shall be a fixed amount per year, as set by the City Council, and he or she shall receive all benefits of a partially-paid firefighter. If the Fire Chief is a volunteer, his or her annual salary shall be a fixed amount per year, as set by the City Council and he or she shall receive all benefits of a volunteer firefighter.
      (2)   Full-paid firefighters.
         (a)   The salary for full-paid firefighters shall be set annually by the City Council. Full-paid firefighters shall receive:
            1.   A fixed weekly salary;
            2.   A fixed amount per fire call they respond to after normal duty hours and a fixed amount per hour additional for fire calls that run over one hour;
            3.   A fixed amount per practice or drill session they attend during non-duty hours;
            4.   A number, as determined by the City Council, of complete sets of uniforms per year (blue in color), to be ordered in January, with laundering to be done by the firefighter; and
            5.   Reimbursement, upon receipt from the firefighter, for one pair of approved safety shoes per year, a maximum amount to be determined by the City Council.
         (b)   Compensation under divisions (A)(2)(a)2. and/or (A)(2)(a)3. above is payable every six months.
      (3)   Partially-paid firefighters.
         (a)   The wages of partially-paid firefighters shall be set annually by the City Council. Partially-paid firefighters shall receive:
            1.   A fixed salary per year;
            2.   A fixed amount per duty shift;
            3.   A fixed amount per fire call they respond to after normal duty hours and a fixed amount per hour additional for fire calls that run over one hour;
            4.   A fixed amount per practice or drill session they attend during non-duty hours; and
            5.   A fixed dollar clothing allowance per year, paid out of the Fire Department supplies appropriation and approved by the Fire Chief.
         (b)   Compensation under division (A)(3)(a)2. above is payable monthly; compensation under divisions (A)(3)(a)3. and/or (A)(3)(a)4. above is payable every six months.
      (4)   Volunteer firefighters. Compensation and allowances may be set by the City Council in accordance with I.C. 36-8-12.
   (B)   Specific amounts of compensation or clothing allowances as provided in this section shall be set each year in the city salary ordinance.
