All water sold or supplied by the Village shall be measured by a meter of a kind, style and variety as determined by the Water Superintendent. (Ord., 9-10-1956; amd. 1989 Code)
A. Inspections: The owner of any building or premises so supplied with water shall see that such meters are kept and remain free from obstructions on or about the same, and that they are conveniently accessible at all reasonable times for the purpose of reading, inspecting, repairing or replacing the same. A duly authorized employee or agent of the Village shall be permitted at all reasonable hours to inspect or examine such meters for the purpose of reading, repairing or replacing the meters, and if such access is not afforded to the Village within fifteen (15) days after notice requesting such access, the water on said premises may be shut off, and may not be turned on until such owner has complied with the requirement to permit access to the premises for the purpose of inspecting, examining, reading, repairing or replacing the meters. Notice under this section shall be given via certified mail to the billing address on record at the Water Department. (Ord. 2018-09, 11-12-2018)
B. Meter Repair: The Water Superintendent shall make all repairs to or replacement of meters, charging the owner of the property with the expense or cost of repair and parts supplied. In case the meter is beyond repair, a new meter shall be installed at the owner's expense, upon notice to such owner. All meters shall be properly and thoroughly tested by the Water Superintendent before being put in place and shall be installed under the direction of the said Superintendent and properly sealed and registered.
