7-1-6: CONSTRUCTION REGULATIONS:
   A.   Specifications:
      1.   Any building, structure or premises with which it is desired to make connection with a Village water main shall be provided with and shall have installed, at the expense of the Village a buffalo or shutoff box located between the meter vault and water main, the top of the box to be at grade level. Such buffalo or shutoff box shall be constructed and located to the satisfaction of the Water Superintendent. (Ord., 9-10-1956; amd. 2003 Code)
      2.   There shall be only one pipeline per metered service. Tap on water pipes shall not be greater than 1.5 inches to water mains of eight inches (8") or greater in size. Tap on water pipes shall not be greater than one inch (1") taps for water mains of six inches (6"). (Ord. 04-07, 10-11-2004)
      3.   All service pipes between meter vaults and water mains shall be copper tubing, of proper gauge for a pressure of one hundred (100) pounds per square inch. (Ord., 9-10-1956; amd. 1989 Code)
      4.   All tap on lines shall be laid at a depth of not less than five feet (5') below grade level and excavations under street pavements must be made by boring, unless otherwise approved in writing by the Village Engineer. All excavation and borings must be backfilled with CA-6 aggregate sand for a distance of at least four feet (4') each side of the pavement and all excess spoil shall be removed.    B.   Responsibility For Construction: All construction, including meter vault, piping, valves, meter and buffalo box between the water main and customer's property line shall be at the expense of the property owner or occupant and thereafter the Village will maintain that part between the water main up to and including the buffalo box; furthermore, no such service facility shall be used for more than one home or property.    C.   Licensed Plumbers To Do Work: No private supply pipe shall be laid by any other person than a duly licensed or appointed plumber acting under authority of the permit for the laying of such private supply pipe, as herein provided. All work shall be done by preapproved Village contractors. (Ord., 6-1-1959; amd. 1989 Code; 2003 Code)
   D.   Notification Process: The permittee/applicant shall notify the Village Water Superintendent of the time and date of the proposed water service tap. The Superintendent shall collect the permit tap fee and notify the Village plumbing inspector to inspect the work. The check shall be deposited prior to the start of work. A minimum of seventy two (72) hours' notice is required. (Ord. 04-07, 10-11-2004)
