(a) Each building shall have separate, independent building sewers for disposal of sewage and, where a public storm sewer is available, for disposal of storm runoff.

(b) An existing building sewer may be used in connection with a new building only when the director of public works determines that the building sewer meets all requirements of this chapter.
(c) Notwithstanding the requirements of subsection 21A-23(a), where one building stands at the rear of another on an interior lot and no public or private sewer is available or can be constructed to the rear building through an adjoining alley, court, yard or driveway, the building sewer from the front building may be extended to the rear building and the whole considered as one building sewer.
