5-1-1: DEPARTMENT CREATED:
There is hereby created a police department for the city, the head of which shall be the chief of police. (1991 Code § 1-33)
5-1-2: APPOINTMENT OF CHIEF; TERM:
The chief of police shall be appointed by the city council. His term of office shall be four (4) years, running concurrent with mayoral elections, or until his services are terminated by death, resignation, removal by the city council or other legal manner. (1991 Code § 1-33; amd. Ord. 22-36, 10-11-2022)
5-1-3: APPOINTMENT AND REMOVAL OF POLICE OFFICERS:
   A.   Appointment: One or more police officers may be appointed by the chief of police, subject to confirmation by the city council.
   B.   Removal: Said police officers may be removed by the city council, for cause, at a regular meeting, by a majority vote of all of said city council members. (1991 Code § 1-33)
