13-1-5: CARE OF WATER HEATERS DURING SERVICE SHUTOFFS:
When water is shut off for making repairs, consumers having water heating coils shall turn off the water at the basement shutoff and open a faucet in the hot water pipe and leave it open until the water is turned on, in order to protect piping and fixtures from excessive pressures from hot water or steam. (2007 Code § 44-126)
13-1-6: NONLIABILITY OF CITY IN TURNING ON SERVICE:
In turning on water, the city shall not be responsible for any damage that may occur by reason of open, defective or disconnected fixtures or piping. (2007 Code § 44-127)
13-1-7: SERVICE TURNED ON BY CITY ONLY:
When the water supply to any premises has been shut off at either the curb shutoff or the meter, it shall not again be turned on except by an authorized representative of the city manager. The city manager may refuse to authorize turning on the city water to any premises where a bill is in dispute or unpaid or where, if applicant is a tenant, the required deposit has not been made. (2007 Code § 44-128)
13-1-8: CLOSING OF ACCOUNTS:
Owners or consumers desiring to discontinue the use of water shall give notice to the city manager. The meter will be read and a final bill computed. If the customer is transferring within the system, the final balance will be transferred to the customer's new account, and will be subject to the normal collection procedures for active accounts. If the customer is discontinuing service on the city water system, the final bill will be rendered to the customer and will be subject to the normal collection procedure for final bills. (2007 Code § 44-129)
13-1-9: USE OF FIRE HYDRANTS RESTRICTED:
No person, except authorized city employees, shall open any public fire hydrant belonging to the city. (2007 Code § 44-130)
13-1-10: RIGHT OF ACCESS FOR INSPECTION:
Any person authorized by the city manager shall have free access at all reasonable hours to any building for the purpose of reading, inspecting, removing or replacing meters, examining water fixtures and observing the manner in which the water is used. (2007 Code § 44-131)
13-1-11: IMPERSONATION OF DEPARTMENT INSPECTORS:
No person who is not an employee of the city shall by word or action represent such person to be such an employee for the purpose of gaining admission to any building nor shall any person, in any manner, impersonate such employee for the purpose of committing any unlawful or improper act. (2007 Code § 44-132)
