15.16.030 Fire Chief Authority; additions to or deletions from state identified areas.
   The Fire Chief may designate area(s) not identified as VHFHSZ by the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection, following a finding supported by substantial evidence in the record that the requirement for VHFHSZ is necessary for effective fire protection within the area(s). The Fire Chief may also decline to designate area(s) identified by the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection as VHFHSZ, following a finding supported by substantial evidence in the record that the requirement for VHFHSZ is not necessary for effective fire protection within the area(s). The Fire Chief shall otherwise comply with other applicable state and federal laws, rules and regulations in making these determinations.
