(A) General. The provisions of this chapter shall apply to all buildings constructed or under construction prior to 1933 (adoption date of local earthquake resistant code requirements) or for which a building permit was issued prior to 1933 which on the effective date of this chapter have unreinforced masonry bearing walls as defined herein.
(B) Exception. This section shall not apply to detached one or two family dwellings and detached apartment houses containing less than five dwelling units and used solely for residential purposes.
