There had been created by earlier ordinance and codification a planning and zoning commission composed of five (5) residents of the village, which has existed and is operating as of the date of this ordinance. The members of the planning and zoning commission are in staggered terms as provided by law. Members shall be nominated by the Mayor and approved by the Board of Trustees from time to time as necessary to be in compliance with NMSA 3-19-2 and in conformance with NMSA 3-11-5. New members shall, within one year of being appointed, attend a workshop/orientation on their duties and responsibilities. (Ord. 322, 10-14-2003; amd. Ord. 396, 1-11-2022)
In transition to the election cycle in effect in the Village of Cloudcroft pursuant to NMSA 1-22-3.1, each member of the Planning and Zoning Commission shall serve a two (2) year term. The two (2) year term of a member of the Planning and Zoning Commission who is appointed or reappointed in 2022 to position one, two or three shall expire on January 1st of 2024. The term of a member of the Planning and Zoning Commission who is appointed or reappointed in 2022 to position four or five shall expire on January 1st of 2023. Thereafter the term of position one, two or three shall expire on January 1st of each even numbered year and the term of position four and five shall expire on January 1st of each odd numbered year.
