(a) Temporary canopies may be erected on sidewalks in connection with special events of a public nature for periods not exceeding two (2) weeks, and for other purposes for periods not exceeding forty-eight (48) hours, provided that no public hazard is created thereby and a permit therefor is obtained from the Director of Public Service.
(b) The arrangement of such temporary canopies shall afford at least six (6) feet of unobstructed sidewalk width for the use of the public, or such greater unobstructed width as may be directed by the Director of Public Service.
