§ 389.29 Fire Division Connections
   (a)   Except as provided in the table included in Section 389.22, every required sprinkler system shall be equipped with one (1) or more approved connections for use of the Division of Fire. The pipes from the sprinkle system to such connection shall be not less than four (4) inches in size except that a three (3) inch pipe may be used to connect a single inlet hose connection to a three (3) inch or smaller riser.
   (b)   When Fire Division hose connections are required, they shall be provided on each street and alley frontage or, when the building sets back of the street lines, on each accessible exterior wall facing street or alley. However, when a frontage or exterior wall is less than fifty (50) feet in length no connection shall be required on that frontage when approved connections are provided on other frontages.
   (c)   The threads of inlets on hose connections shall have female threads and shall conform to Division standard. Substantial caps shall be provided on each connection.
   (d)   Each such connection shall be suitably marked with raised letters reading “Fire Department Connection – Automatic Sprinklers” or when only stories below grade are equipped, “Fire Department Connection – Basement Sprinklers” or “Cellar Sprinklers.”
