Any person or organization engaged in or desiring to engage in the work of repairing or erecting steam boilers, steam kettles, pressure tanks, superheaters or generators in the city shall obtain a license from the buildings commissioner.
The word “erect” as herein used shall include only such steam boilers, steam kettles, pressure tanks, superheaters or generators as are assembled at the place of installation, and shall not include such steam boilers, steam kettles, pressure tanks, superheaters or generators as are constructed at the place of manufacture and delivered assembled to the place of installation.
It shall not include sectional heating boilers constructed of cast iron.

The individual or organization making application for a license under this chapter shall supply one or more of the following:
1. A valid certificate of authorization to use the “R” Repair Symbol Stamp from the National Board and Pressure Vessel Inspectors;
2. A valid certificate of authorization to use the “A”, “S”, “H”, “U”, or “PP” Symbol Stamp; or
3. Permission of the buildings commissioner.
All individuals and organizations currently licensed under this chapter shall be required to meet the above requirements on or before June 1, 1994, in order to obtain further renewal of their licenses thereafter.
If the buildings commissioner is satisfied that such applicant is competent, he shall issue a license to such applicant authorizing him to repair or erect steam boilers, steam kettles, pressure tanks, superheaters or generators.

The fee for the initial license issuance shall be $130.00 for the first year and $50.00 for each additional year the license is valid. The renewal license fee shall be $50.00 for each year the license is valid.
All fees provided for in this chapter shall be paid to the department of finance.

Such license shall be valid for a period of not less than one and not more than four years from the date of issuance, unless sooner revoked in the discretion of the mayor.
The license may be renewed upon its expiration by paying in advance the appropriate renewal fee.
