155.01 PRE-EMPLOYMENT MEDICAL EXAMINATIONS.
   (a)   The Employer may require selected applicants to submit to an appropriate examination as a condition of employment to determine whether the applicant can physically and/or mentally perform the essential functions of the job, with reasonable accommodation where necessary.
   (b)   If the Employer requires a physical or psychological examination of applicants for hiring, the physical or mental examination will only be required after selecting the preferred applicant for appointment.
   (c)   When the Employer sends a selected applicant for an examination, a copy of the position description should be sent to the licensed, qualified practitioner conducting the examination, with a request that the practitioner indicate in writing whether the applicant can perform the essential functions of the job as identified; and if not, what accommodation, if any, the applicant would require in order to do the job.
   (d)   Pre-employment tests to determine current use of illegal drugs which may affect an applicant’s ability to perform the job duties shall be conducted before a conditional offer of permanent employment.
   (e)   Pre-employment tests to determine current use of illegal drugs which may affect an applicant’s ability to perform the job duties may be conducted before a conditional offer of part-time employment.
   (f)   The City may require physical agility tests for certain positions as determined appropriate by the Director of Public Safety and Service.
   (g)   Pre-employment examinations shall be conducted by a licensed medical practitioner selected by the Employer at the Employer’s expense.
