260.04  HOURS OF WORK.
   (a)   With the exception of the Police Department officers, Fire Department paramedics or firefighters and plant operating personnel in the Utilities Department, all full-time Municipal employees shall work a forty-hour week, Monday through Friday of each week, with normal working hours of 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. A department head may, with the approval of the Mayor or the Board of Municipal Utilities, arrange alternate hours for all or a portion of the employees in his or her department in the interest of better accommodation of the public.
   (b)   All full-time officers in the Police Department and plant operating personnel in the Utilities Department shall work a forty-hour week, three-shift basis, as directed by the department head of each such Department.
   (c)   All full-time paramedics and firefighters in the Fire Department shall work a normal tour of duty which shall be a twenty-four hour tour and shall be so assigned by the Fire Chief, with the exception of the Fire Chief, the Training Officer and the Fire Prevention Officer, who shall work a forty-hour week.  The Secretary/Dispatcher shall work a forty-hour week.

   (d)   In the event of any call-in to a full-time member of the Public Works Department for snow removal overtime, it is agreed that a minimum of four hours pay at the overtime pay rate of one and one-half times the basic hourly rate shall be paid to the employees who respond to such call-in, regardless of whether or not a full four hours is worked on said call-in order.  For all other call-ins, a minimum of four hours at the time and one-half rate shall apply whether or not the full four hours is worked on the call-in.

   (e)   In the event a full-time member of the Public Works or Utilities Department is called in to work overtime on a Sunday or a paid holiday, he or she shall be paid at the rate of two times his or her basic hourly rate.
   (f)   Additionally, in the event any full-time member of the Public Works Department is called in to work during the hours from midnight to 7:59 a.m., by reason of a snowstorm emergency condition, overtime compensation shall be paid at the rate of one and one-half times the basic hourly rate for any and all periods of consecutive hours worked during such irregular shift.  Overtime compensation, as defined herein, shall be paid for all consecutive hours worked during such an irregular called-in shift begun between the hours as specified above, that is, midnight to 7:59 a.m., up to a maximum of eight hours.  However, the supervisor in charge may terminate such irregular shift at any time if further work is deemed unnecessary in the sole judgment of said supervisor.
   (g)   In the event of any call-in to a full-time employee or employees of the Municipal Utilities Department for purposes of working overtime, it is agreed that a minimum of three hours pay at the overtime pay rate of one and one-half times the basic hourly rate shall be paid to those employees who respond to such call-in, regardless of whether or not a full three hours is worked on said call-in order.
