9-1-1: SHORT TITLE:

This title is cited as and referred to as the ZONING ORDINANCE or the ZONING ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF ARTESIA. (Ord. 1028, 8-28-2018)

9-1-2: PURPOSE:

This title is enacted for the purpose of promoting the health, safety, morals, convenience, orderly prosperity and welfare of the present and future inhabitants of the City by lessening of congestion in the streets and roads; securing safety from fire and other danger; providing adequate light and air; the classification of land uses and the distribution of land development and utilization; avoiding undue congestion of population; facilitating the adequate provision of transportation, water, schools, sewerage and other public requirements; and by other means in accordance with the comprehensive plan, and the zoning map adopted herewith.
