7-3-16: TRUCK ROUTES:
   A.   Certain roads within the village are, by their location, design and construction, amenable to vehicular traffic including heavy and/or large trucks, whereas other local roads are not capable of accommodating these vehicles safely, and the roads could be unduly damaged by such traffic. For these reasons, the village adopts and designates certain truck routes as the appropriate roads for truck traffic.
   B.   No person shall operate any vehicle with a (i) Gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR), whether single vehicle or in combination; or (ii) Gross vehicle weight (GVW),whether single vehicle or in combination; or (iii) A registered vehicle weight rating, whether single vehicle or in combination, exceeding twenty-six thousand (26,000) pounds upon any roadway under the jurisdiction of the Village, other than designated truck routes as identified in paragraph D of this section; except that such vehicles may be operated thereon for the purpose of delivering or picking up loads, material, or merchandise, and then only by entering such road at the intersection nearest the destination of the vehicle and proceeding thereon no further than the nearest intersection thereafter.
   C.   The provisions of this section shall not apply to school buses, village contracted refuse and rubbish haulers, roadway and utility maintenance vehicles, emergency vehicles, or any other vehicles engaged in any activity sanctioned or approved by the Village. The provisions of this section shall also not apply to vehicles acting in compliance with the instruction of a police officer, a posted detour route, or an overweight permit issued by the Village.
   D.   The operator of any vehicle in excess of the weight restrictions provided for in paragraph B of this section shall drive such vehicle only upon the following roads, which are hereby designated as truck routes:
      1.   State Highways 173, 83 and 59;
      2.   Gregory Drive;
      3.   Randi-Foil Drive;
      4.   Deep Lake Road (County Highway 36);
      5.   McMillen Road;
      6.   Anita Street;
      7.   Dram Court;
      8.   Dwight Court;
      9.   Kairy Street;
      10.   Seguoit A venue;
      11.   Bartlett A venue;
      12.   Gail Street; and
      13.   Ram Road.
   E.   The village administrator may also designate additional roads (or sections thereof) which are susceptible to extraordinary damage due to matters such as weather or construction as being prohibited from truck traffic or limited to trucks not exceeding specific weight classifications.
   F.   The village administrator shall provide for appropriate street markings and signage to guide and alert drivers of the provisions of this section. (Ord. 12-11-23, 11-19-2012; amd. Ord. 21-07-24, 10-27-2021)
