6-2-9: SHOPPING CARTS:
   A.   Removal: No person shall remove or license or permit the removal of a grocery cart or shopping cart from the premises and/or parking lot of the business establishment which furnished said cart. (1976 Code § 96.001)
   B.   Abandonment: No person shall abandon or leave unattended any grocery cart or shopping cart upon any public street, sidewalk or public way within the Village, or upon the private property of any person adjoining or abutting any public way or sidewalk within the Village, other than the premises where said cart was originally obtained. (1976 Code § 96.002)
   C.   Nuisance Declared: Abandoned or unattended grocery carts or shopping carts, whether on public or private property other than the property of the business establishment which furnished the carts, are hereby declared to be a nuisance. (1976 Code § 96.003)
   D.   Impoundment: Any member of the Police Department is authorized to remove or have removed any grocery cart or shopping cart left at any place within the Village which reasonably appears to be in violation of this section, or which reasonably appears to be abandoned or left unattended, as defined herein. Such grocery cart or shopping cart shall be impounded until lawfully claimed or disposed of in accordance with 765 Illinois Compiled Statutes 1030/1 et seq. (1976 Code § 96.004)
   E.   Signs Posted: A copy of this section shall be posted in a conspicuous place in or upon every business establishment which provides grocery carts or shopping carts for the use of its customers or patrons. (1976 Code § 96.005)
