2-3-2: MEMBERSHIP:
   A.   Appointment: The park commission shall consist of seven (7) members, including a chair. Additionally, there shall be two (2) alternate members. The chair, members and alternates shall be appointed by the mayor on the basis of their particular fitness for their duty on the park commission, subject to the approval of the village board of trustees.
   B.   Residency Requirements: The members shall reside within the corporate limits of the village or within territory contiguous to the village and not more than one and one-half (11/2) miles beyond the corporate limits and not included within any other municipality.
   C.   Organization: The members of the park commission shall appoint a secretary from their members or may appoint a secretary to assist them, with the secretary's compensation to be established as set forth on the schedule maintained by the administrator. This appointment shall be by a majority vote of the park commission.
   D.   Term Of Office: Each member of the commission shall serve for a period of five (5) years, or until their successors are appointed and have qualified; provided that the members of the commission first appointed, shall be appointed for such terms that the term of one member shall expire annually thereafter. If a vacancy occurs in the office of any commission member, the mayor shall appoint a successor, with the approval of the village board of trustees, to serve for the unexpired term. Alternates shall also serve for five (5) year terms, staggered by initially appointing one alternate to a three (3) year term and the other to a full five (5) year term and all appointments being for five (5) year terms thereafter.
   E.   Compensation: Members shall receive compensation at the rate established in the schedule maintained by the administrator. (Ord. 14-08-19, 8-18-2014)
