1-11-21: FAILURE TO ATTEND MEETINGS; FINE:
   A.   In the event of there being less than a quorum at any regular meeting of the village board of trustees, the members of the corporate authorities present may have served a summons on any absent members, such summons being served by any police officer of the village, and may demand the immediate presence of such member at the meeting if he is able to attend. Any member who shall ignore such a notice, or who shall wilfully fail to attend any regular or special meeting of the village board without good cause, may be fined an amount equal to one-twenty fourth (1/24) of such officer's annual salary, on a majority vote of all of the trustees elected to office.
   B.   Any member of the corporate authorities who fails to attend eighteen (18) regular or special meetings of the village board during any fiscal year, without good cause, may, after a due process hearing before the village board, be fined an amount equal to one-twenty fourth (1/24) of such officer's annual salary on a majority vote of all of the trustees elected to office. Each subsequent unexcused absence after the seventh absence shall be considered a separate and additional violation of this provision for which an additional fine may be assessed.
   C.   Participation in any regular or special meeting by electronic means shall not be considered an absence for the purposes of this section. (Ord. 09-04-10, 4-20-2009)
