1. Installation of Facilities; Fire Hydrants. Where a public water main is accessible, the subdivider shall install adequate water facilities to meet the needs of the development and to provide fire flow protection. The size of water main extensions shall be eight-inch minimum diameter or larger as required by the City to provide fire flows. The design and construction of these improvements shall be in accordance with the standard specifications and the design standards of the Iowa Department of Natural Resources and as approved by the City Engineer and the Municipal Water Department. Fire hydrants shall be required in all subdivisions. Fire hydrants shall be located in accordance with the provisions of the City standard specifications.
2. Individual Wells. If a public utility system is not available, individual wells may be used; provided: construction is in accordance with the Iowa Department of Natural Resources and the Dallas County Health Department, and permits are issued approving the well water for human consumption.
