CHAPTER 1
GENERAL OFFENSES
GENERAL OFFENSES
A. Misdemeanor Offenses Prohibited: It is unlawful for any person to commit any act constituting a misdemeanor, crime or offense as defined by title 21 or 63 of the Oklahoma Statutes, as amended from time to time.
B. Statute Provisions Adopted By Reference: The city does hereby adopt and incorporate by reference the provisions of titles 21 and 63 of the Oklahoma Statutes, and authorizes law enforcement officials by and on behalf of the city to enforce the terms thereof within the city limits, and authorizes the prosecution of the same in the Vinita municipal court 1 . A. Attempts To Commit Offense: Every person who attempts to commit an offense against the ordinances of the city, and in such attempt does any act toward the commission of such offense, but fails or is prevented or intercepted in the perpetration thereof, is guilty of an offense, and shall be punished in the manner prescribed for the offense itself. (1986 Code § 14-2)
B. Aiding In Offense: When no punishment for counseling, aiding, or abetting in the commission of a particular offense is expressly prescribed by ordinance, every person who counsels, aids, or abets another in the commission of such is guilty of an offense and punishable in the same manner as the principal offender. (1986 Code § 14-3)
C. Penalty: Except in cases where a different punishment is now or may hereafter be prescribed by ordinance, any person, firm or corporation who commits an offense within this chapter shall, upon conviction, be punishable as provided in section 1-9-13 of this code. Each day upon which a violation continues shall constitute a separate offense. (1986 Code § 14-1; amd. 2005 Code)
