(A) Each user shall provide the City Waterworks a place for the placement of a meter or other reasonable or necessary appliance as determined by the City Waterworks. The water meter will be supplied at the expense of the City Waterworks. The user shall provide the City Waterworks ready access to the meter for reading and maintenance.
(B) Each separate living unit built or established following a renovation shall have a separate water meter. For purposes of this paragraph, a separate living unit shall be defined as any area occupied as a residence which has water service piped into it and sewage removed from it, as well as a door separating that living unit from the balance of the structure.
(C) Unless otherwise specified in a contract between the user and the City Waterworks, the water supplied shall be measured by a meter or meters of standard manufacture, furnished and installed on the premises by the City Waterworks in accordance with applicable standards of the City Waterworks and any appropriate regulating agency having jurisdiction over the City Waterworks.
(D) All meters or other appliances and equipment furnished by and at the expense of the City Waterworks shall be and remain the sole property of the City Waterworks unless expressly provided otherwise, in writing. The user shall protect all meters and other city owned property from freezing and other loss or damage. No one, who is not an agent of the City Waterworks shall tamper with or remove the meter, curb stop or other city owned property, or allow another person, who is not an agent of the City Waterworks, to tamper with or remove the meter, curb stop or other city owned property.

The service connections, meters, and appliances supplied by the City Waterworks have a definite capacity and no substantial addition to the water consuming equipment or appliances connected to that equipment shall be made except upon written consent by the City Waterworks.

The water furnished by the City Waterworks under the provisions of this chapter is for the use of the consumer on his premises. The user shall not resell any water without the written consent of the City Waterworks.

(A) No user shall turn the water on or off at the curb stop. All service lines shall have a stop placed between the meter and the consumer's first service outlet for the purpose of draining water lines and making repairs.
(B) Any person interfering with a curb stop, valve box, or hydrant will be held responsible for any resulting damage.

No person shall, with the intent to obtain water from the city water supply without paying the established rate for the water obtained:
(A) Connect any pipe, hose, fitting or other device to any main or service line connected to the city waterworks water supply for the purpose of by-passing the water meter;
(B) Remove, replace, disable or modify any water meter for the purpose of changing or stopping the recording of water usage; or
(C) Reconnect a water line that has been disconnected for nonpayment;

(A) Any tapping of a water main within the control of the Waterworks shall be done while a staff member of the department is present.
(B) A fee of $50 per tap into the system shall be charged for inspecting any single-family residential zoned (R1) property.
(C) A fee of $100 per tap into the system shall be charged for inspecting any other property.

(A) Each owner of the private fire hydrant(s) shall pay an annual fire protection fee for hydrant rental/fire protection in accordance with the Water Rate Ordinance of the City of Union City.
(B) Each owner of the private fire hydrant(s) shall enter into a Fire Hydrant Flushing, Maintenance and Painting Agreement with the Union City Waterworks.
(C) Upon payment of the hydrant rental/fire protection fee and signing of the Fire Hydrant Flushing, Maintenance and Painting Agreement, the Union City Waterworks will provide periodic maintenance, flushing and replacement parts for any private fire hydrant in accordance with the agreement.
(D) In accordance with the Fire Hydrant Flushing, Maintenance and Painting Agreement, all expenses incurred while flushing, performing maintenance and/or painting will be the responsibility of the owner of the private fire hydrant(s).
