The requirements and provisions within the adopted codes below shall be the standards for construction, alteration, repair and maintenance of structures and their equipment.
(a) The current edition of the Ohio Basic Building Code (OBBC) as referenced in the Ohio Administrative Code (OAC) as adopted by the Board of Building Standards pursuant to applicable provisions of Chapters 119, 3781 and 3791 of the Ohio Revised Code shall be collectively known or referred to as the State Code.
(b) The 1996 edition of the OBOA One, Two and Three-Family Dwelling and Accessory Structure Code as published by the Ohio Building Officials Association or the 1999 BOCA Basic National Building Code, fourteenth edition, as published by the Building Officials and Code Administrators International, Inc., shall be collectively known or referred to as the Local Code. Both of these local codes shall only apply to detached one, two and three-family buildings and their accessory structures.
Exception:
The 1999 BOCA shall only apply where the 1996 OBOA is silent.
(c) All three of these codes referenced above are hereby adopted as the Building Code of Troy, Ohio.

Copies of the Building Code and any cumulative supplement, together with copies of ordinances making deletions therefrom or amendments thereto, shall be kept on file, in the office of the Building Official and in the office of the Clerk of Council for public examination during usual business hours. Copies of such Code, supplements, and amendments shall be made at cost for those who request such.
