(A) The Department of Emergency Services shall be under the direction of the Chief of Emergency Services. It shall be composed of the Fire Division, and Division of Emergency Medical Services. The Chief Emergency Services shall be accountable to the City Manager. The Chief of Emergency Services shall perform the duties as provided for in §§ 34.002 Duties of Officers and 34.003 Responsibility of Department Heads.
(B) The functions defined in §§ 35.46 and 35.80 may upon recommendation of the City Manager and, upon approval of City Council, be combined under a Division of Emergency Services. Upon the combining of those functions, the positions of Fire Chief, and Chief of Emergency Medical Services shall be terminated and replaced by a Chief of Emergency Services. The Chief of Emergency Services shall then discharge the duties outlined in § 35.81.
