9-7-2: PRIVATE POOLS:
   A.   Construction; Permit Required: No person shall begin construction of a private swimming pool or shall substantially alter or reconstruct any private swimming pool without first obtaining a City building permit. One set of plans and specifications shall be submitted for the approval of such matters as zoning, electrical, structural, plumbing and footage requirements.
   B.   Built According To Plans: The pool and facilities shall be built in accordance with the plans as approved unless approval of changes has been given in writing by the Building Inspector. (Ord. 11-2-3-71, 5-6-1971)
   C.   Continuous Deck: Swimming pools shall have a continuous deck of at least five feet (5') extending completely around the circumference.
   D.   Fencing: Swimming pools shall be surrounded by protective fence, building or obstruction at least six feet (6') high either surrounding the pool or the yard. The entrance way must be capable of being locked. (Ord. 11-2-3-71, 5-6-1971; 1997 Code)
   E.   Protective Covering When Not In Use: Pools when drained and not in use shall be covered with a protective covering capable of reducing danger to falling children.
   F.   Sewer System; Drainage: There shall be no direct physical connection between the sewer system and any drain from the swimming pool or recirculation system. Any swimming pool or gutter drain or overflow from the recirculation system, when discharged to the sewer system, storm drain or other approved natural drainage course, shall connect through a suitable air gap so as to preclude possibility of backup of sewage or waste into the swimming pool piping system.
