6-5-15: THEFT OF ANIMALS:
   A.   Determination Of Violation:
      1.   A theft, conversion, taking, leading away or secreting of any animal shall be considered a violation of this chapter as well as any applicable statutes relating to theft, theft by false representation, fraud or conversion.
      2.   Concealing the identity of any animal for the purpose of making the return of an animal to the animal's owner more difficult shall be considered a violation of this chapter, including, but not limited to, the obscuring, altering or removing of any collar, tag, license, tatoo, or other identifying device or mark.
   B.   Enforcement: A law enforcement agent may refer an individual who is in violation of subsection A of this section to an animal control officer. The animal control officer may issue a citation for theft, consistent with subsection 6-5-17A of this chapter. A hearing for a citation for theft may be held. (Ord. 2007-10, 12-18-2007)
