7-1-4: SIDEWALK CONSTRUCTION AND MAINTENANCE:
   A.   Construction Specifications: All sidewalks hereafter constructed within the Municipality shall be five feet (5') in width, unless a different width be approved by the Council, and shall be constructed of cement to a depth of four inches (4") at a ratio of five (5) parts gravel to one part cement, broomed finished and sloping from the inside toward the street at a grade level of not more than one-half inch (1/2") to five feet (5').    B.   Maintenance and Repair: All sidewalks within the Municipality shall be kept in a good state of repair and in a safe condition for the use of pedestrians, such repair and maintenance to be the responsibility of the owner of the property in front of which a sidewalk is located. (1959 Code §9-502)
In the event the owner of the property in front of which a sidewalk is located does not repair nor put in a safe condition such sidewalk within thirty (30) days after written notice by the Council or its representative, the Council may cause such repairs to be made or such sidewalk to be removed and replaced with an adequate sidewalk and assess the cost thereof against such private property, such assessment to be certified by the Clerk to the County Assessor or Auditor and such assessment to be placed on the assessment roll and collected for the City in the same manner as other Municipal taxes are collected.
