No person shall install or cause to be installed any electric lighting, heating or power wiring or equipment without first obtaining a permit from the Chief Electrical Inspector. Evidence of the permit for all electrical work must be posted in a conspicuous place or be so located on the premises as to be easily accessible to the Chief Electrical Inspector or his deputies and must be shown to the Chief Electrical Inspector or his deputies on demand.

A fee as set forth in Chapter 185 of the Administrative Code (the General Fee Schedule) shall be charged for each permit for electrical installations.

No person shall undertake to install, reinstall, repair, replace in whole or in part, reset, reassemble, move, alter or convert any proposed or existing electrical system or any part thereof unless such person has been duly registered by the Building Commissioner to perform such work in compliance with the provisions of these Electrical Regulations.
Applicants for registration to engage in or work at the trade, occupation or business of an electrical contractor shall apply for registration at the office of the Commissioner and make application for such registration on forms provided by the Commissioner. Each applicant shall furnish a valid copy of their State of Ohio electrical contractor license.

(a) Every application for registration shall contain the name of the person applying for registration and the place of business of the applicant. If the applicant is a member of a firm, copartnership, corporation, association, or any combination thereof, the application shall contain the names and addresses of all members or officers, as the case may be, and such other information as the Building Commissioner may require, together with a certified copy of the corporation minutes or other certified evidence showing that the applicant is duly authorized to represent and act for the firm, copartnership, corporation, association, or any combination thereof, in all matters regulated by these Electrical Regulations.

(b) Every applicant for registration as an electrical contractor shall, upon approval of the application, furnish and file with the Commissioner a bond in the penal sum of twenty-five thousand dollars ($25,000), to be approved as to form by the Law Director and as to sufficiency by the Mayor, guaranteeing full and faithful compliance by the applicant with all the provisions and regulations of these Electrical Regulations.

Upon approval of the application for registration as an electrical contractor by the Building Commissioner, the applicant shall file with the Commissioner the required bond, properly executed and approved, shall pay a registration fee as set out in Chapter 185 of the Administrative Code (the General Fee Schedule) and shall then receive from the Commissioner a certificate of registration as an electrical contractor, entitling him to install, reinstall, repair, replace in whole or in part, reset, alter, convert or move any electrical system, pursuant to the provisions of these Electrical Regulations, within the City for the current calendar year.

All electrical contractor's certificates of registration and all renewals thereof shall expire on December 31 of each year, but may be renewed, providing all noncompliances with or violations of these Electrical Regulations by the registrant have been cleared, upon application for renewal thereof to the Building Commissioner upon forms provided by the Commissioner and upon payment of a renewal fee as set out in Chapter 185 (the General Fee Schedule).
