2.31.020   Police chief to receive unclaimed property.
   When lost, stolen, abandoned or otherwise unclaimed property or money, except vehicles subject to registration under the Vehicle Code of the State of California, comes into the possession of any employee or department of the city, it shall be held for five days by such department and thereafter if unclaimed shall be delivered to the police department. However, the police department shall be notified immediately when weapons or contraband are found.
