(A) Every house or building abutting any water main and requiring a water connection shall be separately and independently connected, except in those cases where laterals have already been laid in macadam or improved streets from the main, provision being made for the house or building, in which case the connection may be made to an existing lateral.
(B) (1) If the house or building is on a macadam or improved street where laterals have not been laid, the connection may be made to any convenient lateral.
(2) When two or more houses or units are connected with the same water lateral, a separate meter shall be provided for each house or unit.
