(a) The driver of a senior sedan shall, at all times while on duty, display an authorized identification card bearing his photograph, name, address, age, height and weight, and the signature of the Director of Public Safety. Such identification cards shall be surrendered to the Director upon demand.
(b) The driver of a senior sedan shall, at all times while on duty, wear a uniform plainly marked "Newark Senior Sedans, " the style of which shall be determined by the Director of Public Service. Such uniform items of attire shall remain the property of the City or, in the event that such clothing is supplied under contract, the property of the supplier of the City.
(c) The driver of a senior sedan shall, at all times while on duty, maintain high standards of cleanliness and neat appearance. Beards and mustaches are authorized but must be clean and neatly groomed at all times.
(d) The driver of a senior sedan shall be courteous to passengers at all times. Should misunderstandings arise, the driver shall report the circumstances to his dispatcher and shall follow those instructions provided by the dispatcher or the Director of Public Service.
(e) The driver of a senior sedan shall not assist passengers in any manner which would require him to administer aid for which he has not been trained under an authorized program administered by or through the direction of the Director of Public Service or the Director of Public Safety. In no event shall a driver administer first aid to a passenger suffering from injuries or illness if the driver has any doubt as to the type of aid to be administered and the proper method of application of such aid as taught to him by an authorized instructor.
(f) The driver of a senior sedan shall carry with him and maintain an accurate daily register showing each passenger's identification number, name, address, point and tame of embarkation and destination and the fare or transit token collected. Each driver's log sheet, change fund, collected fares and transit tokens shall be delivered to the dispatcher when the vehicle is returned to the garage at the end of the tour of duty.
(g) The dispatcher shall also complete a daily register in his office and shall be responsible for receiving and accounting for all fares, change funds and transit tokens collected from drivers pending their disposition as directed by the Director of Public Service in accordance with guidelines established by the Transit Operations Coordinator.
(h) The driver and/or mechanic of a senior sedan shall be responsible to ensure that his vehicle is clean and in safe operating condition, weather conditions permitting. Radio equipment of any type, other than the two-way communication system provided by the City, shall not be used in senior sedan vehicles.
(i) No person employed by the senior sedan program shall sell or purchase transit tokens sold by the City through its subsidized public transportation program, or accept a transit token for any purpose other than in exchange for providing transportation services on behalf of an eligible person.
