(a) Senior sedans shall be used only for the purpose of providing transportation for eligible persons to make necessary visits to physicians, lawyers, dentists, medical centers, laboratories, hospitals, pharmacies, groceries, City and County offices or similar destinations for business or health care, provided that such destinations are situated within the City. Time permitting, senior sedans shall be permitted to transport eligible persons to religious activities and senior citizens' group activities, provided that such activities are situated within the City.
(b) Senior sedans shall not be used to transport eligible persons for the purpose of visiting with others, except that, time permitting, senior sedans may be used to transport eligible persons to visit relatives who may be hospitalized or in nursing homes or health care centers. Such use of senior sedans shall be permitted on Sunday afternoons or as the Director of Public Service may deem appropriate in establishing schedules. Under no circumstances shall senior sedans provide emergency transportation, such as ambulance service, unless directed to do so by the dispatcher or an appropriate law enforcement officer.
