220.01 AUTHORITY OVER OFFICERS.
   The Mayor shall supervise the conduct of all officers of the City, inquire into and examine the grounds of all reasonable complaints against any of them, cause violations or neglect of duty by any of them to be promptly punished and recommend to Council the removal of such officers so offending. He shall have power to suspend from office, with loss of pay during such suspension, any officer appointed by him, under the authority of any law or ordinance, for neglect of duty, misconduct in office or other sufficient cause and may appoint other persons to fill the temporary vacancy occasioned thereby. All such suspensions and the cause thereof and all such temporary appointments shall be reported by him to the Director of Public Safety.
