That the Monee Police Department shall consist of the Police Chief, Deputy Police Chief, and a maximum of thirteen (13) patrol offices which includes three (3) sergeants.
In the event there is less than three (3) sergeants available to work and a vacancy has been created, the Police Chief shall have the authority to designate a patrol officer as an acting sergeant. Said patrol officer shall assume the duties and responsibilities of a sergeant until further order of the Police Chief.
Furthermore, if the number of commissioned sergeants is less than three (3) then the police commission shall be authorized at the Chief's direction to hire up to the total authorized full-time patrol officers and sergeants positions combined. The combined number of full-time patrol officers and sergeants shall not exceed fourteen (14) unless so modified by the Mayor and Board of Trustees through the adoption of an Ordinance.
