A. Position Created: That the position of Deputy Police Chief is hereby created and established within the Village of Monee Police Department.
B. Responsibilities: The duties and responsibilities of the Deputy Police Chief are as follows:
1. The Deputy Police Chief shall be second in command and shall have the authority and perform such duties as the Police Chief shall assign. The Deputy Police Chief shall be required to supervise the work of the Department and require satisfactory performance of the unit, subject to the orders of the Police Chief.
2. The Deputy Police Chief shall be a full time employee of the Village of Monee and shall assume the powers, duties and responsibilities of the Police Chief in the absence of said Chief.
C. Compensation: That the salary for the Deputy Police Chief shall be provided for in the annual budget.
D. Appointment: The Deputy Police Chief shall be appointed on an annual basis by the Village President, with the advice and consent of the Board of Trustees. This appointment is exempt from the provision of 65 ILCS 5/10-2.1-1. The Deputy Police Chief shall serve at the pleasure of the Village President. (Ord. 1965, 12-20-2020)
