9-4-6-9: SIGNS IN RESIDENTIAL DISTRICTS:
Within the residential districts, the signs are subject to the following regulations and no permit is required:
   A.   Nameplate/Home Occupation, Home Childcare, And Single-Family: One single surfaced nameplate sign may be located on the property provided the sign does not exceed two (2) square feet in area. Such sign may indicate the name of the occupants, address, and the type of the home occupation, if such exists.
   B.   Nameplate/Multi-Family: One single or double surfaced nameplate sign for each apartment complex of six (6) or more units, which shall not exceed six (6) square feet in area per surface. Such sign may indicate the names and addresses of the buildings or project, or may be a directory for the occupants or state any combination of the above information.
   C.   Yard Ornaments: Symbols, statues, sculptures and integrated architectural features on nonresidential buildings may be illuminated by floodlights, provided the direct source of light is not visible from the public right of way or adjacent residential property; light trespass is prohibited.
   D.   Illuminated Flashing Signs: Illuminated flashing signs shall not be permitted.
   E.   Promoting Residential Project: For the purpose of selling or promoting a residential project of six (6) or more lots/dwelling units, a sign or signs shall not exceed the aggregate of one hundred (100) square feet and may be erected upon the project site and be maintained until each of the lots or units has been sold, rented or leased. At such time the sign shall be removed and future signs subject to this chapter.
   F.   Rock signs.
   G.   Residential yard signs.
   H.   Commercial structures located in residential districts shall comply with the provisions of this chapter. (Ord. 2422, 1-21-2013)
