The Mayor, subject to confirmation by a majority of the members of Council, shall appoint a Director of Law to serve at the pleasure of the Mayor and Council. The Director of Law shall be the head of the Department of Law. The Director of Law shall serve the Mayor, the Council, the Administrative Departments, and the officers, boards, and commissions of the Municipality as legal counsel in connection with municipal affairs, and, subject to the direction of the Mayor, shall represent the Municipality in all proceedings in court or before any administrative board. The Director of Law shall perform all other duties now or hereafter imposed upon municipal solicitors or law directors under the laws of Ohio unless otherwise provided by ordinance of the Council, and shall perform such other duties consistent with the office as the Mayor or the Council may request. The Director of Law shall attend all meetings of Council unless excused for good cause by the Mayor or Council. No person shall act as Director of Law unless duly admitted to practice law in Ohio.
