9-10-16: PARKING VIOLATION, NOTICE OF FINE:
   A.   Issuance; Copies: Where a parking violation is observed for which a fine is prescribed by section 9-10-15 of this chapter, a parking notice of fine may be issued by any officer or parking enforcement employee of the Police Department, any officer or firefighter of the Fire Department or any other City employee, or official, designated by the City Administrator. Notices of fine shall be issued electronically, or written upon serially numbered sets of parking notice of fine forms with each copy to be clearly imprinted with the citation complaint number. Copies of the notice of fine forms shall be used as follows: one (1) shall be used as a notice of fine and shall be delivered to the owner or operator of the vehicle, if present at the time the violation is observed, or, in the alternative, securely affixed to the vehicle parked in violation of any provision of this Code for which a parking notice of fine is authorized and one (1) shall be placed on file with the Parking Enforcement Bureau of the Mason City Police Department.
   B.   Violations: Whenever any motor vehicle without a driver is found parked or stopped in violation of any of the restrictions imposed by this chapter or any other City ordinance, an officer or designated City employee finding such vehicle may take its registration number and such other information displayed on the vehicle as may identify its owner or operator and shall conspicuously affix to such vehicle a notice of fine, in writing, on a form as provided herein, for the owner or operator to appear on the charge against him or her at the Parking Enforcement Bureau of the Mason City Police Department or at the City Clerk's Office as designated in the notice of fine.
   C.   Form Of Notice Of Fine: The parking notice of fine shall clearly identify: the serial number assigned to the notice; the date, time, and location of alleged violation; the vehicle make and license plate; the employee's ID number; the alleged parking violation(s); the appropriate fine for the violation ticketed; and similar instructions on how to respond or deny the parking notice of fine.
YOU MAY ADMIT THE VIOLATION BY PAYMENT OF A FINE OF $20.00 WITHIN 30 DAYS OR $30.00 THEREAFTER. THE FINE FOR PERSONS WITH DISABILITY PARKING VIOLATIONS ARE $200.00 IF PAID WITHIN 30 DAYS AND $200 THEREAFTER. YOU MAY DENY THIS CHARGE BY APPEARING AT THE PARKING ENFORCEMENT BUREAU AT THE MASON CITY POLICE DEPARTMENT OR AT THE OFFICE OF THE MASON CITY CITY CLERK WITHIN 30 DAYS OF ISSUANCE.
Fines may be paid by depositing the correct amount in the envelope and either mailing it or delivery to the Mason City Police Department, 78 South Georgia, or to the Mason City City Clerk's office, 10 1st St. N.W.
NOTICE: It may be illegal to park a vehicle upon the public streets, highways or parking lots within the City if there are four or more unpaid, unanswered Notices pending against the owner of such vehicle. Vehicle owners with unpaid notices will be turned over to the County Treasurer for collection. Vehicle owners with unpaid parking notices may be unable to register their vehicles until fines have been paid.
