Mason City residents may license their bicycles at the Police Department during normal business hours.
A. Application: Application for a bicycle license and license tag may be made upon a form provided by the Police Department and shall be made in person at the Police Department.
B. Inspection: Police Department staff reserve the right to examine the bicycle in order to verify ownership and accuracy of information before issuing a bicycle license.
C. Issuance Of License: Upon receiving proper application, Police Department staff are authorized to issue a bicycle license. Staff shall not issue a license for any bicycle when he or she knows or has reasonable grounds to believe that the applicant is not the owner of or entitled to the possession of such bicycle. The Police Department shall keep a record of the numbers of each license, the date issued, the name and address of the person to whom issued and a brief description of the bicycle licensed.
