8-1-11: FIRES OUTSIDE CITY:
   A.   Duties At Municipal Airport: The jurisdiction of the City, for fire prevention and fire protection and the giving of other emergency assistance, is hereby extended to the Municipal Airport, and the Chief of the Fire Department is hereby authorized and directed to cause inspections to be made of property thereon, and to enforce fire prevention regulations thereat, to fight fires and give other emergency assistance thereto in the same manner as within the corporate limits of the City.    B.   Aid To Other Communities: The Chief of the Fire Department, or in his absence the person acting in his place and stead, is hereby authorized, when called upon by a community having an organized Fire Department, to send to the relief of such community such personnel and equipment from the Fire Department of the City as in his judgment may be spared from the City at that time for such purpose. This subsection shall not require the Fire Department to answer calls from such communities, but the answering of such calls shall be in the discretion of the Chief of the Fire Department or, in his absence, a person acting in his place and stead.    C.   Aid Outside Communities: The Chief of the Fire Department or, in his absence, the person acting in his place and stead is hereby authorized to answer calls for emergency assistance within Cerro Gordo County and within the limits of counties adjacent to Cerro Gordo County, and to communities having an organized Fire Department, and to send to the relief thereof such firefighters and equipment from the Fire Department of the City as, in his judgment, may be spared from the City at that time for such purpose. This subsection shall not require the Fire Department to answer such calls, but the answering of such calls shall be in the discretion of the Chief of the Fire Department or, in his absence, a person acting in his place and stead.    D.   Contracts For Aid: The Chief of the Fire Department, or in his absence the person acting in his place and stead, is hereby authorized when called upon by any person or other municipality with whom the City has heretofore contracted or with whom the City may hereafter contract to provide fire protection or other emergency assistance, to send to the relief of such person or other municipality such firefighters and equipment from the Fire Department of the City as, in his judgment, may be spared from the City at that time for such purpose. This subsection shall not require the Fire Department to answer such calls from such persons or other municipalities, but the answering of such calls shall be in the discretion of the Chief of the Fire Department or, in his absence, a person acting in his place and stead.    E.   Pension, Retirement Privileges: All firefighters and equipment of the Fire Department, while engaged in answering calls provided for in this section, shall be considered as being in the service of the City and acting in the course of their employment and in the line of duty. Firefighters, while answering such calls, shall have the same rights, privileges and protections as though answering calls within the corporate limits of the City, including rights to pension and retirement fund privileges.
