The Chief of the Fire Department may assign to any employee or firefighter, on his off duty time, any work similar to his duties as employee or firefighter. For the purposes of pension and retirement rights, injuries, disabilities or death suffered while on such assigned work shall be considered as being suffered in line of duty.
