A. All appointments of the Fire Department shall be made by the Chief of the Fire Department with the approval of the City Council, in accordance with chapter 400, Code of Iowa, relating to the civil service laws and the rules and regulations of the Mason City Civil Service Commission, pursuant to title 2, chapter 1 of this Code. B. All firefighting personnel appointed to or employed by the Fire Department shall, on or before completion of the probationary period, live within a ten (10) mile radius of the City limits. (1985 Code)
