The Airport Commission shall have the following powers, duties and authority:
A. To acquire real estate and personal property for airport purposes in the name of the City of Mason City, Iowa, by purchase, gift, condemnation, lease or otherwise.
B. To acquire or cause to be moved, removed, abated, eliminated, mitigated or altered any structure or object protruding above the surface of the ground, or any use of land obstructing the air space necessary for the safe and efficient flight of aircraft landing at, or taking off from, the Mason City Municipal Airport, or otherwise constituting a hazard to such landing or taking off.
C. To make and enforce rules and regulations for the control, supervision and operation of the Mason City Municipal Airport which authority shall include space above or in the vicinity of the Mason City Municipal Airport necessary or desirable for the safe landing and taking off of aircraft.
D. To manage, control, improve, maintain and operate the present Mason City Municipal Airport and any future Municipally owned real estate acquired for similar purposes. (Ord. 1333, 7-21-1975)
E. To have and exercise all power, authority and duties which the City of Mason City might possess or exercise with respect to the Mason City Municipal Airport, except the power to sell real estate comprising the Mason City Municipal Airport, which shall be sold only upon the unanimous vote of all members of the City Council, and except as herein limited.
