10-10-5: LOCATION, CONSTRUCTION AND DISINFECTION REQUIREMENTS:
   A.   No pool shall be located, erected, constructed or maintained closer to any side or rear lot line than allowed by the zoning ordinance for permitted accessory building uses, and in no case shall the water line of any pool be less than four feet (4') (1.22 meters) from any lot line.
   B.   No direct connection shall be made to the sanitary sewer or septic system.
   C.   A gaseous chlorination system shall not be made use of as a disinfection method for pool waters. The city code enforcement officer shall recommend a proper disinfectant. (Ord. 1341, 5-16-1990)
10-10-6: FENCING:
   A.   Generally:
      1.   Pools within the scope of this chapter or not enclosed within a permanent building shall be completely enclosed by a fence of sufficient strength to prevent access to the pool and shall not be less than four feet (4') (1.22 meters) in height, so constructed as to not have voids, holes or openings larger than four inches (4") (10 centimeters) in one dimension.
      2.   Gates or doors shall be equipped with a self-closing and self-latching device for keeping the gate or doors securely closed at all times when not in actual use.
      3.   Location or fencing required shall be subject to all other applicable ordinances.
      4.   No fence shall be located, erected, constructed or maintained closer to a pool than three feet (3') (0.91 meters).
      5.   The wall of the house or building faced to the pool may be incorporated as a portion of the fence.
   B.   Aboveground Pools:
      1.   Aboveground pools with self-provided fencing to prevent unguarded entry will be allowed without separate additional fencing, provided the self-provided fence is the minimum required height and design as heretofore specified.
      2.   Permanent access from grade to aboveground pools having stationary ladders, stairs or ramps shall not have less than equal safeguard fencing and gates. (Ord. 1341, 5-16-1990)
10-10-7: ELECTRICAL REQUIREMENTS:
   A.   All electrical installations provided, installed, and used in conjunction with a swimming pool shall be in conformance with the state laws and city ordinances regulating electric installations. (Ord. 1341, 5-16-1990; amd. 2013 Code)
   B.   If overhead flood or other artificial lights are used to illuminate the pool at night, such lights shall be shielded to direct light only on the pool. (Ord. 1341, 5-16-1990)
10-10-8: MAINTENANCE; INSPECTIONS:
Swimming pools shall be maintained in a sanitary manner. The city shall reserve the right to inspect or cause to be inspected each swimming pool maintained in the city. (Ord. 1341, 5-16-1990; amd. 2013 Code)
10-10-9: NUISANCE CONDITIONS PROHIBITED:
No pool shall be so operated or maintained as to create a nuisance, a hazard, an eyesore, or otherwise to result in a substantial adverse effect on neighboring properties, or to be in any other way detrimental to the public health, safety, and welfare. (Ord. 1341, 5-16-1990)
10-10-10: PENALTY:
Any person, firm, or corporation violating any provision of this chapter shall be fined as provided in section 1-4-1 of this code for each offense, and a separate offense shall be deemed committed on each day on which a violation occurs or continues. (Ord. 1341, 5-16-1990; amd. 2013 Code)
