Sec. 9.03. - Rules and Regulations Governing the Classified Civil Service.
Subject to the provisions of Section 9.02 of this Charter, all rules and regulations pertaining to the classified civil service set forth in Chapter Six of the "Code of Ordinances, City of Lexington, Kentucky" on the effective date of this Charter shall continue in full force and effect. Said rules and regulations shall remain in effect until such time as the Council adopts by ordinance a comprehensive classified civil service plan for the Lexington-Fayette Urban County Government.
Subject to the limitations set forth in Section 9.02, all employees of the City of Lexington and the County of Fayette not covered by the above rules and regulations on the effective date of this Charter shall be placed under the classified civil service at a classification level commensurate with the kind and type of duties assigned to said employees by the City of Lexington or the County of Fayette immediately prior to the effective date of this Charter. In no case shall any employee placed under the classified civil service in accordance with this provision receive a salary or wage lower than that received on the effective date of this Charter. Nor shall any such employee be subject to any examination or certification requirements except those pertaining to promotion or change of classification after their initial entry into the classified civil service.
