The Lexington Library Board of Trustees shall continue after the effective date of this Charter as the Lexington-Fayette Urban County Library Board of Trustees. Said board shall retain all powers, duties and functions as may be now or hereafter prescribed by law governing the operation of public libraries by cities of the second class. The Lexington-Fayette Urban County Library Board of Trustees shall retain all powers pertaining to the appointment of a librarian, assistant librarian and staff as prescribed by law. All vacancies on said board occurring after the effective date of this Charter shall be filled by the Mayor, subject to the provisions of Section 7.02 of this Charter.
The Lexington Public Library Board of Advisors shall continue after the effective date of this Charter, and shall be charged with advising the Mayor and the Library Board of Trustees on all matters pertaining to the operation and administration of public library services for the Merged Government. All vacancies on said board of advisors shall be filled by the Mayor, subject to the provisions of Section 7.02 of this Charter.
